Medical Experts Enjoin Abia Residents to Embrace ANRin


Abia State commissioner for Health, Dr Joe Osuji has urged Abians to embrace Abia State Accelerating Nutrition  Result in Nigeria, ANRin,  a World Bank assisted project that aims to reduce the effects of chronic malnutrition. 

Dr Osuji made the appeal during a stakeholders meeting organised by Abia state Government in collaboration with Abia State Accelerating Nutrition  Result in Nigeria (ANRin) project Abia State ministry of Health on the topic, "Safeguard".
represented by the permanent secretary, ministry of health, Deaconess Franca Ekwueme.

He thanked the Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu for being a health  friendly Governor by supporting the project to kick off in the state three years ago with a huge sacrifice of paying the counterpart fund.

The commissioner also highlighted the need for the media to take the message to the people to educate people, especially at the grassroots.
 
Speaking, the state project Manager, Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria, ANRiN project Abia state, Dr Eugene Uhuaba said ANRIN is a nutritional intervention attracted by the state Governor Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu which focuses on children in their first five years of life, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating mothers.

He pointed out that their objective is to deliver  quality cost effect basic nutrition services to all the communities in Abia state and urged stakeholders to see to the success of the project as chronic malnutrition is everybody's problem

Dr. Uhuaba added that the state has procured the services of non state actors of which two of them have been working in Abia state since September last year, delivering the package of nutrient services, micro nutrient powder, abendezol, iron folic acid, Zinc and ORS to residents of the state.

Meanwhile, the State DSNO/Community Mobilization and Engagement officer, Mr Stanley Ajamgbulogu and 
State Nutrition officer, Ministry of Health, Abia State gave a lecture and Mrs Nmerechi Ofoegbu spoke on Health Care Waste Management.
The state Director of National Orientation Agency, NOA Dr Lady Ngozi Okechukwu, Abia state Director of information, Comrade John Emejor among others were present during the training.
