Abia Speaker Promises Better Welfare for PLWDS, as Association Storms his House

  
The speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji says the disability bill passed into law was done to carter for the welfare of disable persons in the state.

The speaker stated this while addressing the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities Abia State chapter who visited him in Umuahia. 

The disabled persons stormed Mr speakers house for leading his colleagues in passing the Abia State Commission for Disabled Persons Law known as “Disability Law” on August 31, 2022. 
According to the speaker, politics presently is meant to assist the people and not to talk down on any person. While emphasizing that it is difficult to manipulate elections now, the speaker maintained that power has gone back to people who decide who to vote and reminded the disabled community that his colleagues across parties also contributed to the success of passing the bill into law.

He promised to take their association a step further and also promised to donate a vehicle to them to help convey some of them who may need assistance especially during health emergencies.

Speaking earlier, the state chairman Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Wisdom Okechukwu Kalu, their woman leader, Princess Ngozi Nwaguru and founder our mumu don do organisation, Chief Enyinnaya Madumere said they came to appreciate Mr speaker and the 7th house members for listening to their voice and passage of their bill into law.
They also pledged to support his political ambition come 2023 by mobilizing their members to support credible candidates.

Na you we Sabi, Ikwuano Umuahia not negotiable, we are solidly behind you, do not forget us when you get there, you are the speaker speak to the Governor to assent to our bill, we believe in you our dynamic leader
The disable leaders also appealed to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to authenticate the bill by assenting to it.

Some of the disabled persons were holding placards with inscriptions "Na you we Sabi, Ikwuano Umuahia not negotiable, we are solidly behind you, do no forget us when you get there, you are the speaker speak to the Governor to assent to our bill, we believe in you our dynamic leader" among others.
