Governor of Rivers State, Barrister Nyesom Wike on Monday September 5th, 2022 commissioned the first fly over in Abia located at Osisioma and Aba Owerri road built by his ally, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
Performing the ceremony in Aba, Governor Wike said he is happy to declare the flyover open for use and expressed joy that Ikpeazu has shown love to his people, adding that he does not associate with those who have nothing to show.
The outspoken Governor maintained that Abians did not make a mistake to elect Ikpeazu as governor.
According to Wike, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has made his people proud for delivering quality projects, and asked Ikpeazu critics to put their face to shame. He said with what Ikpeazu has done, at the appropriate time, Abians will support his political ambition, while urging him not to relent in his good work.
This is coming amid the crisis rocking the unity of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party. The Rivers State Governor, "said he would not leave his political foes for God to deal with them but he will flog and crush those he described as “the small boys”.
Wike, "also said he understands relationship, adding that nobody can break his ranks with his PDP brother governors and allies like Ikpeazu, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Governor Samuel Ortom, and Governor Seyi Makinde".
Wike further said Ayu should respect agreement and resign or Nigerians will know who is relevant or not at the appropriate time".
Speaking earlier, Abia Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu described the day as special because the Osisioma fly over is one of the events to mark the 31st anniversary of the creation of Abia state.
He said the desire to erect the flyover is to ease movement in and out of Aba, as people are spending hours to get to their destination.
Ikpeazu thanked God for the realization of the project, adding that the essence of government is to solve problems. He also thanked Abians for their support through the ballot, saying, the interchange would enhance trade and commerce as traders would benefit from the flyover.
Ikpeazu also described Wike as the father of fly over and tasked those contesting elections in Abia to show and paste campaign posters to what they have done before.
Contributing, Abia state commissioner for works, Bob Ogu said the flyover commenced in 2017 and delivered this 2022.
The chairman of Osisioma local government area, Christian Kamalu expressed joy, saying that the fly over has added beauty to Osisioma junction.
