The National Orientation Agency NOA, said the campaign for promoting the National Policy on Ethics and Integrity is a joint effort of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, independent Corrupt Practices Commission ( ICPC) and NOA as approved by the Federal Executive Council, which aims to upscale compliance with national ethics and observance of Integrity in Nigeria's dealings as as a nation.
The Abia state director of NOA, Dame Ngozi Okechukwu who read a speech on behalf of director general of NOA, Dr Garba Abari disclosed this during the presentation of prices to winners of 2022 integrity club national video competition held at Havilah mission school Afara Umuahia.
Dr Okechukwu said the competition was put together to help inculcate the virtues of the country's National Ethics, enlist the youth early as anti-corruption vanguards and instil the culture of Nigeria core values which all citizens should uphold for National development.
She told the gathering that on the 14" February 2022, NOA organised the Maiden Edition of Integrity Club National Video Competition held on the Valentine's Day annual programme tagged “FALL IN LOVE WITH NIGERIA" with the theme: “My Role in Making a Nigeria of my Dream” designed to teach and promote adherence to the National Ethics in the lives of all youths to have a better Nigeria.
According to Dr Okechukwu, as part of the activities to commemorate this year's Independence Day Celebration and in continuation of the ongoing drive to build Integrity, the Agency embarked on the Second Integrity Club National Video Competition on ‘INTEGRITY PAYS'’. She added that in Nigeria, 1st October has always provided a platform to remember and review the country's journey as a nation while focusing on these milestone and historical events that have shaped the nation and destiny.
The NOA state director used the forum to present certificates, letter of appreciation and other items to Havilah mission school Afara that came first, Holy Rosary Girls Secondary school that took second position and JOMEG secondary school that came third in the competition.
Her words, "We are here today because Integrity clubs are established in our schools. On behalf of the Director General of NOA Dr, Garba Abari, we presented a Trophy, Certificate, Letter of Congratulations and other materials as Award to Holy Rosary Girls Secondary School for emerging Abia State Champion of the National Competition. Recently, as part of the activities to commemorate this year's Independence Day Celebration and in continuation of the ongoing drive to build Integrity, the Agency embarked on the Second Integrity Club National Video Competition on ‘INTEGRITY PAYS'’. Videos were sent to NOA headquarters Abuja from all the competing schools and winners were selected . We are here to appreciate the schools that competed and won in this Integrity Club National Video competition, and who are playing their part in ensuring that our children uphold high moral values. Finally our appreciation goes to the students for their hard work and all their teachers who have coached them to excellence. I will not fail to acknowledge our 2 hardworking Integrity Club Desk officers. As we all lay this solid foundation, we trust that it will help in correcting the mess in this country and in moving Nigeria to greatness".
Responding on behalf of other schools, the proprietress of Havilah mission school Afara Umuahia, Rev Mrs Ngozi Akanairo noted that integrity is important to everyone, homes, families, stressing that with integrity there is hope for Nigeria.
She thanked NOA and all who contributed to see the success of the competition.
